The Secrets of Sheikh Mujib

Shining a light on the dark side of power.

English translations of Bangla books outlining the missing bits about Sheikh Mujib and his controversial rule during the Independence and Founding of Bangladesh. Erased from history books, not only was Sheikh Mujib a reluctant founding father of the nation, but also the pioneer of crossfire culture in Bangladesh (post-Independence), to assassinate opposition party members such as those in the Jashod; to make his dream of a one-party nation a reality.

In January 1975, when Sheikh Mujibur Rahman spoke in the parliament, he blamed the famine on the ‘corrupt people’ of the country and thanked international friends for their support during the crisis. His speech can be found in the book edited by his daughter.

As it appears, Awami League’s supreme leader knew well who was to blame for the distress caused by the famine. Many of his followers would refuse to accept that, however.

Instead, they opted for muzzling the press, which according to Dr Sen, “contributes greatly to bringing out the information that can have an enormous impact on policies for famine prevention.”

Narakakavya: 71 to 75

‘There, there they tied me and my son Rashid and beat me badly. Rashid was shot in front of my eyes. My son fell down. A butcher handed me an axe and said, “Cut the boy’s throat with your own hands, I’ll play football with his head.” I was speechless. “If you don’t give it,” he said, “you are not spared either.” But can I do it? I am the father. After one and a half hours of continuous beating, they put a gun on my chest and back. In the end, I cut off the boy’s head with my own hands. What will Allah tolerate? Say father?’

The Secrets of Sheikh Hasina

Sheikh Mujib’s offspring embody the same mental psychopathy of lack of empathy and grasping power by any means. The latest in the bloodline is Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Sheikh Hasina. Civil servants who have interacted with him have borne witness that he too is a stringent personality that cannot display humility and take input.

Major Bazlul Huda was convicted of being involved in the assassination of Sheikh Hasina’s family. He was sentenced to death by hanging. However, his family received his body where his head was sown (which has been verified by a doctor), and there is video proof circulating on social media. The family is claiming that Sheikh Hasina had ordered a slaughter instead of hanging, in her presence.
